Et Tube, Brute?

Entertainment Weekly had a recent TV-focused issue, which got me wondering.

What is the scribosphere watching? All you writers of features, TV, games, whatnot-- what's on your playlist? Here's mine:

Sunday
COLD CASE
DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
GREY'S ANATOMY

Monday
PRISON BREAK
MEDIUM

Tuesday
THE UNIT

Wednesday
VERONICA MARS
LOST

Thursday
CSI

Friday
DR. WHO

Saturday
(None)

Shows not on currently that I'll watch for sure when they return:

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA
DEADWOOD

There's also a couple of mid-seasoners I'll likely check out.

Whew! Way to put the miles on the ol' TiVo.

I'll occasionally watch the odd sitcom (MY NAME IS EARL, SCRUBS), but I'm clearly a drama girl.

Your turn. What do you watch? What's good that the rest of us might be missing?

I wish I could watch that much TV. No Tivo here, so I have to watch it as it's scheduled. But it breaks down like this:

Sunday:
Simpsons
some of Family Guy
Grey's Anatomy

Monday:
Maybe some of Two and Half Men
CSI Miami

Tuesday:
Switch around usually setlling on Scrubs
House
Law and Order- SVU
Gilmore Girls (airs after ten here)

Wednesday:
Veronica Mars (airs after ten here)
Lost

Thursday:
CSI
Smallville (airs after ten here)

Friday:
Whatever catches my eye

Saturday:
Whatever Netflix has delivered.

If I cant find anything worth watching, I will pop in a disc of what ever boxed set I have. Currently working through Buffy the Vampire Slayer: season 5

Maybe I do watch alot.

I probably should be watching THE SOPRANOS, but I kinda fell off the wagon a few seasons ago.

My sister and I have this running debate: I find the casual brutality and extreme language of THE SOPRANOS hard to stomach, and she has the same problem with DEADWOOD.

Guess I don't mind the fireworks when it's being perpetrated by guys in waistcoats and waxed mustaches rather than tracksuits.

Plus, each episode of DEADWOOD's kind of like a little American history episode. Uh, with whores. And dead guys being fed to pigs.

Shahua, a respectable showing, esp. for no DVR!

I record absolutely everything -- I write most evenings, so catch up sans commercials later at night or in the morning, or the weekends.

I'm all over the place as I too have no DVR, but I make up for it by grabbing television by that "method that dare not speak its name."

Sunday
------
HUSTLE
STARGATE/ATLANTIS
VERONICA MARS
EM HOME EDITION
FAMILY GUY
SIMPSONS/AMERICAN DAD
GREY'S ANATOMY

Monday
------
PRISON BREAK (how great was last week's prequel?)
24

Tuesday
-------
GILMORE/IDOL/NCIS (remote flip)
COMMANDER IN CHIEF/UNIT
BOSTON LEGAL (Denny Crane!)

Wednesday
---------
IDOL - off and on
THE EVIDENCE
HEIST

Thursday
--------

EM HOME SPECIALS / SMALLVILLE (me likes the Chloe. Go figure.)
EARL
SCRUBS
ER

Friday
------
INJUSTICE
CONVICTION - 20/20

Saturday
--------

Play catch up with all the shows I've missed:

SPOOKS SEASON 4
HUSTLE SEASON 3 EPS.
HEX (brit Buffy/Charmed clone)
TIMESLIP
REGENESIS

and any movies that have escaped my notice...

I watch to much TV - but I also write while watch. Like now.

Lots of good suggestions to further melt the TiVo!

HOUSE is something I'll probably catch come summertime. Hugh Laurie can do no wrong.

DH is on the bubble for me -- will probably finish this season but drop it next year.

I loved the PRISON BREAK prequel, Bill! Really nifty sketches of how everyone got where they were. I particularly liked the incongruous ones, such as Doc's history as a junkie and T-bag's brief flirtation with normal family life.

Not that I buy the latter. If not for that fortuitous episode of AMERICA'S MOST WANTED, there would be two missing kids and a suspicious new damp concrete foundation at a building site somewhere.

Yay, SPOOKS/MI-5. Was a huge fan of that when it was being broadcast here. How is it now that Tom Quinn's off the team?

Also, Bill, how's REGENESIS? I met the guy who does the show's online game portion at the Game Dev Conference earlier this month.

Re: PRISON BREAK - yeah it was a gamble for them to do that episode. I mean to go from a very plot-driven show with minimal backstory to an episode where it is NOTHING BUT BACKSTORY is really going to colour how we perceive these characters in the future. I say "bravo." If they can keep "surprising" us like that while still moving things forward then I'm hooked for another season.

"Yay, SPOOKS/MI-5. Was a huge fan of that when it was being broadcast here. How is it now that Tom Quinn's off the team?"

Adam Carter is the new guy who came over from MI-6. Brought his wife with him with lots of backstory for the two of them. I won't spoil it for you when the DVD set comes out, but suffice it to say - it's isn't the same team anymore.

"Also, Bill, how's REGENESIS? I met the guy who does the show's online game portion at the Game Dev Conference earlier this month."

I've seen three episodes now and it wants to be something along the lines of X-Files without the weird. The show is filled with techno-speak and explanations and is quite bland. It's really unfortunate, because the characters are quite interesting. It's just that the stories violate so many rules of drama (no conflict, repetition of what has just been said, no raw emotion, no urgency) that it drags. The 48 mins. the show is on seems like an hour and a half.

I've said this on my blog, and I'll repeat it here - my favorite hour of tv each and every week is HUSTLE. Hands down the best show on TV (or computer). Witty, fun, gorgeous to look at and scintillating listening. This is the show HEIST was trying to be, but couldn't. Each member of the cast has their own brand of charisma, and the writers put it through the goal every week. I haven't been disappointed yet. There is absolutely no way that this cast won't become known stars here in the states.

Seek it out. Sit back, relax, and let it work its magic. These con artists won't leave you feeling cheated.

SUNDAY - West Wing, Simpsons, Family Guy (sometimes), American Dad (sometimes), King of the Hill (sometimes)

(no Sopranos..did NOT dig season five, but I'll prolly rent this season when it hits DVD...I like watching them in one marathon sitting. One and Two were the best years)

(no Grey's. Just don't like it.)

MONDAY - Prison Break, 24, Medium,

TUESDAY - Unit, Gilmore Girls, Scrubs, House, Veronica Mars (as of the 11th), Theif, Boston Legal (not all actually on Tues)

WEDNESDAY - Lost, Heist (even though I don't like it, I wind up watching it anyway)

THURS - Smallvile, Earl, Office

FRI - Would say Doctor Who, but I watched all of them last year...but I'll be soon watching illicit copies of season 2.

SAT - SNL..yeah, I said it.

Of course, there are the things that off right now (like BG, Shield, Rescue Me, Commander in Chief, etc) and stuff I steal from UK (Life on Mars).

Additionally, I've been on a Hogan's Heroes kick lately.
